Event Details
The Much Wenlock Festival and Wenlock Olympian Society host this informal look to 2012 with guest speaker David Moorcroft OBE.
Because of Much Wenlock’s links to the modern Olympic movement through Dr William Penny-Brookes we are justly proud of our heritage and this event seeks to strengthen those bonds.
There will be an audio visual display to set the scene for the forthcoming Olympics showing a fly-through of the outstanding Olympic Park and Village currently under construction in London.
David Moorcroft is a former English middle and long distance runner and 5000m world record holder. Whilst his athletic career spanned the late 1970’s and 1980’s he still holds the UK records for the 3000m and 5000m.
From 1991 to 2007 he was the Chief Executive of UK Athletics and in 1998 was awarded the OBE for services to British sport.
